1995-09-02 Nigel Benn w co 7 Danny Perez, The Stadium, Wembley, London, England - WBC. Referee: Mickey Vann. As early as the second round, Perez (167) had begun to feel the champion’s power, especially from the right uppercut, and in the fifth a cracking right dropped the American for the mandatory ‘eight’ count. Back in the fight, Perez gave it a go, surprising Benn (166¼) with combinations, but by the sixth he was on the back foot and fast running out of steam. Sensing a stoppage win in the seventh, Benn finally caught up with Perez and after bludgeoning him to the canvas with another heavy right, the latter was counted out on one knee at 2.23 of the session.
