1995-09-05 Hi-Yong Choi w pts 12 Keiji Yamaguchi, Prefectural Gym, Osaka, Japan - WBA. Referee: Julio Cesar Alvarado. Scorecards: 117-111, 115-116, 114-114. In a very close contest, Choi (107½) got himself going in the fourth round as he battered the unbeaten challenger with wild lefts and rights, but was unable to sustain the pressure. Yamaguchi (108), who suffered a badly cut head following a butt in the opening session, fought back well to make it interesting without doing enough to win the title. There were no knockdowns.
