1995-09-09 [[Regilio Tuur]] w rtd 10 [[Luis Mendoza]], Valkenhuizen Sports Complex, Arnhem, Holland - WBO. Referee: Dave Parris. Finding the challenger somewhat elusive in the opening two rounds, Tuur 130) stepped up a gear in the third to floor his rival for ‘seven’ after a body shot had seemingly strayed low. Then, in the fourth, Tuur was deducted a point following repeated low blows. Having put Mendoza (129½) down on one knee in the eighth, Tuur possibly thought the end was in sight, but when the latter got up and rallied strongly he was sent crashing for ‘eight’ after being hit by a bombardment of lefts and rights and was fortunate to make it to the bell. Still shaky in the ninth and on the verge of defeat, Tuur somehow survived the round before coming back with good punches of his own to take it into the tenth, where both men gave it their best shots before Mendoza was retired by his corner at the end of the session, citing damage to an eye.
