1995-11-25 Steve Collins w pts 12 Cornelius Carr, The Point, Dublin, Ireland - WBO. Referee: Ismael Fernandez. Scorecards: 116-112, 116-112, 117-111. Although he never looked like beating the champion Carr (167½) showed great determination and durability in going the full distance. For his part, Collins (167¾) made an aggressive start, opening up a bad cut on the side of Carr’s left eye in the third round. However, he lacked the spark to finish his rival off despite working hard. There was no doubting that Collins, who picked up a cut left eye in the ninth, was landing the better punches, but Carr, who showed an accurate jab and solid countering at times, won the sixth, eighth and ninth before finishing strongly in the 12th.
