1995-12-30 Ratanapol Sorvoraphin w rsc 6 Osvaldo Guerrero, Army Soccer Stadium, Chiang Mai, Thailand - IBF. Referee: Billy Males. Despite Guerrero (104¾) having a reach advantage and showing great resilience, the champion took control in the second round and by the fifth was on the verge of a kayo win. However, had Guerrero scored with all he threw he could have taken over. Early in the sixth Sorvoraphin (104½) was pounding Guerrero incessantly, and when his handlers jumped into the ring the referee halted the fight with 30 seconds on the clock. Sorvoraphin (107) forfeited the IBF version of the title on 16 March 1996 when failing to make the weight for a defence against Lee Sandoval in Si Sa Ket, Thailand. Despite that the fight went ahead, and after Sandoval (105) was stopped in the penultimate session the busy, hard-hitting southpaw was given an early opportunity to regain the championship when matched against Jun Arlos to contest the vacancy just a couple of months later.
