1996-01-13 [[Juan Martin Coggi]] w tdec 5 [[Frankie Randall]], Jai-Alai Fronton, Miami, Florida, USA - WBA. Referee: Bill Connors. Scorecards: 39-38, 38-37, 38-37. It was a strange fight while it lasted as the southpaw challenger swiped with wild lefts and rights as Randall (140) looked to hurt him with rights through the middle. When Randall went down in the third round from a wild Coggi (140) left hook it was actually scored as a knockdown even though the latter had tripped him. By the fourth Randall was beginning to hurt Coggi and in the fifth after a head clash the Argentinian went down on the 1.15 mark and despite the referee telling him that he had three minutes to get up the corner decided that their man was not fit to continue. Unfortunately for Randall, who looked certain to win, it went to the cards to be decided on a technical decision.
