1996-02-17Philip Holiday w rsc 10 John Lark, Carousel Hotel & Casino, Hammanskraal, South Africa - IBF. Referee: Sam Williams. A fight that should never have been given title billing saw Holiday (133¼) make a successful defence against a man whose record, certainly on paper, did not warrant a shot at the championship. Marred by constant mauling and illegal tactics, neither man could rise above it, and when the referee called it off at 2.34 of the tenth round due to Lark (134¾) being cut over both eyes there was no dissent from the crowd. Whatever boxing there had been came from Holiday, but unable to work out his opponent he was made to look amateurish at times.
