1996-02-24 Alimi Goitia w rsc 12 Hyung-Chul Lee, The Indoor Gym, Kwangyang, South Korea - WBA. Referee: Mitch Halpern. Defending against the former champion and the man he had won the title from, Goitia (115) started well when winning the opening three rounds, the southpaw jab paving the way for solid rights to head and body. Despite Lee (115) boxing spiritedly in the fourth and fifth sessions, Goitia picked up the pace and although the South Korean came back in desperate fashion in the ninth he was fast tiring. From thereon the fight was in Goitia’s hands and after dropping Lee in the 11th he went for the latter in the 12th, sending in accurate leads before scoring another knockdown. At this stage the referee deemed that there was no way back for Lee and with 17 seconds of the fight remaining he stopped the contest in Goitia’s favour.
