1996-03-09 Giovanni Parisi w rsc 8 Sammy Fuentes, Palalido Sports Palace, Milan, Italy - WBO. Referee: Raul Caiz. A gruelling fight for the first seven rounds as the champion chased Parisi (138) non-stop, looking to wear him down and force a stoppage, it all went horribly wrong for him in the eighth when he suddenly ran out of gas. At that stage there was not a great deal between them as Parisi had scored well off the back foot, but faced with the rapidly fading Fuentes (140) he began to quickly take over and was scoring at will when the referee stepped in on the 2.20 mark.
