Line 1: Line 1:
1996-03-09 Steve Collins w rsc 11 Neville Brown, Green Glens Arena, Millstreet, Ireland - WBO. Referee: Ismael Fernandez. Making an excellent start after a poor performance last time out, the champion charged into Brown (167), punching away at the body, before dropping the latter for the mandatory count with a heavy right to the head. After Brown touched down again in the second it looked all over, but showing great resilience he came back to take the fourth as Collins (167¾) tired from his earlier exertions. After being cut on the right eye in the fifth, Brown was under big pressure from thereon as Collins attacked him with venom and with his face a mass of lumps and bumps he somehow kept going until the 11th when dropped by a solid right to the head. Although Brown was up at the count of ‘six’ the referee had seen enough, stopping the fight 54 seconds into the session.
