1996-03-23 [[Arturo Gatti]] w co 6 [[Wilson Rodriguez]], MSG Theatre, Manhattan, NYC, New York, USA - IBF. Referee: Wayne Kelly. Scoring well with the left hand, jabbing and hooking, Rodriguez (128) cut the champion over the left eye in the first round before knocking him down in the second and cutting his right eye. Although Gatti (130) came roaring back, by the end of the fourth he had almost punched himself out and at the same time he had been forced to absorb hefty blows as Rodriguez moved inside and belted him with uppercuts and solid rights. Having had a point deducted for a low blow in the fifth, Gatti then drove in another borderline left hook which put the Dominican down for ‘seven’ and while the latter stayed out of trouble for the remainder of the session he was set about as soon as the sixth was underway. With Gatti at full throttle working away at Rodriguez’s body, at 2.16 the challenger was counted out after a crashing left hook to the jaw had left him flat on his back.
