1996-04-01 Regilio Tuur w pts 12 Narciso Valenzuela, Maasport Sports Centre, Hertogenbosch, Holland - WBO. Referee: Paul Thomas. Scorecards: 120-108, 120-108, 120-109. Despite the scorecards stating that the challenger failed to win a round, the reality of the situation was that he gave Tuur (129½) all the trouble he could handle. As the fight progressed, Valenzuela (129¾), who was dangerous on the inside, came on stronger and showed a powerful left hook before a cut on the left eye in the eighth put him out of his stride. Having forced Tuur to work hard for the points he then showed good defensive skills before storming into Tuur during the last two sessions in an ultimately vain attempt to force a stoppage.
