1996-04-13 Jacob Matlala w rsc 10 Paul Weir, Everton Park Sports Centre, Liverpool, England - WBO. Referee: Paul Thomas. This time round there was no room for argument as Matlala (106¾) ground Weir (107¼) down to retain his title, the little Scot having no answers as how to deal with his tiny but very strong opponent. Outworked, outpunched and bordering on exhaustion, Weir was dropped in the tenth but somehow got up at the count of nine before being smashed down again. At that point the referee had seen enough and stopped the fight with 65 seconds of the session remaining.
