1996-05-11 Yong-Soo Choi w rsc 8 Orlando Soto, Lotte Champion Department Store, Chechudo, South Korea - WBA. Referee: Stan Christodoulou. Having made a poor start and being put down twice in the third round it looked like the champion’s tenure was coming to an end. However, Choi (130) gradually started to work his way back into the contest, winning three of the next four rounds, and in the eighth it was his turn to score a knockdown as Soto (129¾) was sent crashing. Back on his feet but in poor condition, Soto somehow survived another 20 seconds before again being sma shed to the canvas and rescued by the referee on the 2.27 mark.
