1996-05-18 Philip Holiday w rtd 2 Jeff Fenech, Glass House Arena, Melbourne, Australia - IBF. Referee: Robert Byrd. Having had two comeback fights since retiring, Fenech (134½), a former three-time world champion at different weights, was expected by the locals to be too good for Holiday (134¼), who was making his third defence. Following a quiet start, towards the end of the opening round Holiday suddenly launched several big right hands which crashed against Fenech’s head and dropped him for a count of ‘four’. Forced to take the mandatory ‘eight’, Fenech came out for the second looking somewhat shaken, and although retreating he was again dropped by an overarm right. This time his corner had seen enough and threw the towel in, the finish being timed at 2.18 of the session.
