Given an early chance to contest the vacant title after he had been stripped of it when failing to make the weight for Lee Sandoval, Sorvoraphin (104) quickly got into his stride as Arlos (101¾) retreated, but in the fourth round a cut over his right eye saw him being less impetuous. Despite standing back for a while, it did not take long for Sorvoraphin to resume the attack, although he was unable to catch up with the elusive Arlos and had to settle for the points.
