1996-06-01 Alberto Jimenez w pts 12 Jose Lopez, Caesar’s Palace, Lake Tahoe, Nevada, USA - WBO. Referee: Mills Lane. Scorecards: 118-110, 118-110, 120-108. With the champion being a hard puncher, having beaten 27 of his 36 opponents inside the distance, and Lopez (111½) coming off 11 straight quick wins it was expected to be short and sweet. While there was plenty of hard hitting the fight did not end early and proved that Jimenez (112) could also box with some style, being nearly always one step ahead of Lopez, who won only two rounds at best.
