1996-06-08 Prince Naseem Hamed w rsc 2 Daniel Alicea, International Arena, Newcastle, England - WBO. Referee: Raul Caiz. Surprising the champion, Alicea (125¾) banged in three good right handers to the head in the first round, the last one dropping Hamed (125¾). Although he was up quickly, Hamed stayed away from Alicea for the remainder of the session before getting back on course in the second when dropping the Puerto Rican with a cracking right-left. Once upright, Alicea tried his utmost to avoid further punishment, but Hamed would not be denied and a thumping left hook sent Alicea crashing to be rescued by the referee at 2.46 with no count being administered.
