1996-06-29 Henry Akinwande w co 3 Jeremy Williams, Fantasy Springs Casino, Indio, California, USA - WBO. Referee: Raul Caiz. In a battle for the vacant title, once Akinwande (232) had got into his rhythm with the left jab and cross routine he began to pick Williams (216½) apart. Having come in at short notice for Alex Zolkin, who withdrew five days earlier after suffering a cut in training, Williams gave it his best shot before he was counted out after 43 seconds of the third round. Leading up to the knockout, Williams had hurt Akinwande with an overarm right and on charging in to capitalise he was straightened up with a left jab before being dropped heavily by a short right to the jaw.
