1996-07-06 Steve Collins w rsc 4 Nigel Benn, Nynex Arena, Manchester, England - WBO. Referee: Genaro Rodriguez. The champion started the better of the two, firing in uppercuts and blows to the body, with Benn (167½) having problems finding the range and being forced to back up. It was not until the third round that Benn began to get going, trading heavy punches with Collins on equal terms, but in the fourth it suddenly went sour for him when he missed with a big right and fell to the canvas, suffering a twisted right ankle in the process. On getting up it was clear that Benn was not in a position to mount any kind of a challenge and after Collins had pounced on him with a two-fisted attack he eventually signalled his retirement with 20 seconds of the session remaining.
