1996-07-16 [[Bernard Hopkins]] w rsc 11 [[William Bo James]], Resorts Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Rudy Battle. Right from the start Hopkins (158¼) took the fight to his challenger, who tried hard to respond before being sent crashing in the second round by an overarm right. Several times in the first three sessions it looked as though James (158) would drop, but he bravely hung in and by the fifth was making Hopkins chase him. Stunned again in the ninth it looked as though James had little left and having somehow got through the tenth he was pursued bitterly from corner to corner in the 11th, taking several heavy punches, until he was finally rescued on the 2.02 mark after slumping to the floor
