1996-09-06 Alberto Jimenez drew 12 Carlos Salazar, Villa Ballester Gym, Buenos Aires, Argentina - WBO. Referee: Raul Caiz. Scorecards: 114-114, 115-113, 115-118. Jimenez (111¼) came mighty close to losing his title in this one as Salazar (112) landed good southpaw jabs and moved around the ring smartly, making for a difficult target. He also landed some solid punches. Although Jimenez pressed many rounds were close, and following the result there was so much dissension with the verdict that the WBO moved swiftly to organise a rematch.
