1996-09-13 Michael Carbajal w rsc 8 Julio Coronel, Knapp Centre, Des Moines, Iowa, USA - IBF. Referee: Sean Curtin. Although outhustled throughout by the light-punching challenger, Carbajal (107½) remained unconcerned, knowing that he had the power to finish matters as and when. As early as the first round, Coronel (108) was downed, as he was twice in the second and again in the sixth, but it was not until the seventh session that Carbajal really got down to business, setting his man up for the inevitable. Knocked down by a heavy right hand in the eighth, the referee had seen enough and rescued Coronel on the 52 second mark.
