1996-11-02 Luisito Espinosa w rsc 8 Nobutoshi Hiranaka, Convention Centre, Fukuoka, Japan - WBC. Referee: Lupe Garcia. Dominating from the second round on and making good use of his longer reach, Espinosa (125½) was soon getting to his southpaw challenger with solid blows from both hands almost at will. It quickly became clear that Hiranaka (125¾), cut over the right eye early on, would find it difficult to stay in the contest much longer. He was certainly up against it as big left hooks and right crosses constantly found their mark and, unable to get his punches off with any conviction while being hit freely in the seventh, the writing was on the wall. The end came 32 seconds into the eighth when Hiranaka, his the eye damage being used for target practice, was pulled out by the referee, who made a timely intervention.
