1996-12-06 Marcelo Dominguez w rtd 7 Jose Arimatea Da Silva, Palomar Athletic Club, Buenos Aires, Argentina - WBC. Referee: Luis Carlos Guzman. For the opening two rounds Da Silva (188½) used his greater reach to keep Dominguez (189¼) at bay, but in the third the tide turned as the latter found his range. From thereon the champion dominated with left hooks and straight rights, and in the fifth he floored Da Silva with a solid right to the jaw. While the Brazilian made it to his feet he was badly used up and after being under terrific pressure for the next couple of sessions he was retired by his corner at the end of the seventh.
