In an interesting contest, Pastrana (106½) quickly got down to work and almost dropped the champion in the third round. The contest then seesawed back and forth without Carbajal (108) getting a real grip on the proceedings and allowing himself to be outworked. Afterwards he explained his lacklustre performance on continually trying to take the Colombian out with one punch.
