1997-02-08 Steve Collins w rsc 5 Frederic Seillier, Docklands Arena, Millwall, London, England - WBO. Referee: Joe Cortez. Taking control from the opening bell, the champion found Seillier (167½) an easy target and in the second round, having felt the power of the Frenchman’s right hand, he smashed open a cut over his left eye with a heavy right. From thereon, Collins (167½) took his time, knowing he had the beating of Seillier, and controlled the fight with solid lefts and rights before another right sliced open another bad cut, this time on the bridge of the nose in the fifth. Following on from that, after a cracking left hook had knocked Seillier back a few paces the referee led him back to Collin’s corner where the doctor advised an immediate stoppage, timed at 2.20.
