1997-03-08 [[Johnny Tapia]] w rsc 3 [[Jorge Barrera]], Convention Centre, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - WBO. Referee: Tony Rosales. Having little to beat in Barrera (115), Marco Antonio’s elder brother, the champion made hard work of it before flattening his rival with a series of solid body shots in the third round, the referee stopping it on the 1.58 mark without taking up the count. Tapia (115) had started in jabbing mode, but soon stepped it up when he realised Barrera presented no danger.
