The lanky challenger attacked for the first three rounds, scoring well and showing himself to be fast and evasive, while Chuwatana (118) had little success until he changed tactics in the fourth session when he moved inside. Machado (118) was on the floor from a body punch in the ninth as Chuwatana increased the pressure, but came back well in the 12th with well-timed blows to the head to make the fight extremely close to score.
