1997-03-29 Laurent Boudouani w pts 12 Carl Daniels, Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Richard Steele. Scorecards: 118-108, 115-111, 117-109. Despite injuring his left arm in training, Boudouani (154) decided to go through with his defence against Daniels (154), relying heavily on right uppercuts and superior hand-speed to walk away with a unanimous decision. Having made his mind up to stay close to his man, the American southpaw was surprisingly unable to land more than one punch at a time, being made to pay as Boudouani backed him up with solid blows that shook him rigid. After being hurt in the seventh a left-right to the head had Daniels down in the eighth, and although Boudouani took a bit of a breather in the ninth he battered away with combinations to the end. The final session saw Daniels being deducted a point for spitting out his gumshield following an earlier warning, which merely emphasized the fact that he had little left.
