1997-03-29 Laurent Boudouani w pts 12 Carl Daniels, Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - WBA. Referee: Richard Steele. Scorecards: 118-108, 115-111, 117-109. Despite injuring his left arm in training, Boudouani (154) decided to go through with his defence against Daniels (154), relying heavily on right uppercuts and superior hand speed to walk away with a unanimous decision. Having made his mind up to stay close to his man, the American southpaw was surprisingly unable to land more than one punch at a time and was made to pay as Boudouani backed him up with solid blows that shook him rigid. After being hurt in the seventh, a left-right to the head had Daniels down in the eighth and although Boudouani took a bit of a breather in the ninth, he battered away with combinations to the end. The final session saw Daniels being deducted a point for spitting out his gumshield following an earlier warning, which merely emphasized the fact that he had little left.
