1997-05-03 Ronald Wright w rsc 6 Steve Foster, Nynex Arena, Manchester, England - WBO. Referee: Genaro Rodriguez. Working away with the southpaw jab and smashing in vicious body shots, the champion gradually chopped Foster (153¾) down to size and was far too fast to be caught out himself. Never at any stage was Foster given an opportunity to take over and in the fifth Wright (154) began to open up with both hands as he went for the finish. Somehow Foster made it to the bell, but in the sixth he was really under pressure and after taking a solid uppercut to the head two long lefts to the body dropped him. Back in the fray following a count of ‘nine’, Foster could have been pulled out at that stage and when another left to the body sent him to the floor immediately afterwards the referee had seen enough, stopping the fight on the 2.52 mark.
