1997-05-10 Antonio Cermeno w pts 12 Angel Chacon, Coconut Grove Convention Centre, Miami, Florida, USA - WBA. Referee: Armando Garcia. Scorecards: 116-112, 118-112, 118-111. Taking the fight at short notice and struggling to make the weight was tough for Chacon (122), but he gave it his best shot until fatigue got to him in the latter rounds. Chacon started well before Cermeno (121½) moved into gear, with stinging jabs and one-twos opening his challenger up, and as hard as he tried Chacon could not get to grips with his rival, being constantly picked off. Although he rallied in rounds seven and eight that was the last sniff of success for Chacon.
