1997-05-10 Orzubek Nazarov w rsc 7 Leavander Johnson, Coconut Grove Convention Centre, Miami, Florida, USA - WBA. Referee: Brian Garry. Making a fast start, the southpaw champion hurt Johnson (132) with several solid lefts halfway through the opening round before opening up a cut over his right eye. Johnson responded with some good punches of his own in the second, but back came Nazarov (134) in the third to deck the American for ‘five’ with a cracking left and although the pair split the next couple of sessions the sixth marked the beginning of the end. Twice in that round Johnson was dropped, the second time being immediately prior to the bell after Nazarov had landed 19 blows without reply. Surprisingly allowed out for the seventh, Johnson walked on to a flurry of blows that saw him floored for the fourth time in all and rescued by the referee after just 17 seconds.
