1997-07-19 [[William Guthrie]] w rsc 3 [[Darrin Allen]], Fantasy Springs Casino Resort, Indio, California, USA - IBF. Referee: Robert Byrd. Contesting the title relinquished by [[Dariusz Michaelczewski]], Guthrie (173) made the better start, being into his stride from the opening bell, and soon had Allen (174) backing off as he pitched in with southpaw rights and lefts. By now well on top, Guthrie floored Allen with a solid left hook at the beginning of the third and following two more visits to the canvas in quick succession the latter was stopped at 2.38 of the session under the three knockdowns in a round ruling.
