1997-07-26 Antonio Cermeno w co 12 Yuichi Kasai, The Arena, Yokohama, Japan - WBA. Referee: Rafael Ramos. Dominating the opening two rounds with good jabs the lanky champion set out his stall, although Kasai (122) was undeterred as he made the body his target, only to be kept at arms length more often than not. Kasai got some joy in the sixth before Cermeno (122) switched his attack to the body and found success in the seventh and eighth sessions prior to driving for home. Fighting back desperately in the final three rounds, Kasai was eventually thwarted when dumped by a long left hook and a terrific right uppercut that saw him counted out with just 15 seconds of the fight remaining.
