1997-10-04 Giovanni Parisi w rtd 7 Nigel Wenton, Big Tent, Vibo Valentia, Italy - WBO. Referee: Genaro Rodriguez. Defending his title in a specially constructed tent situated in front of San Leoluca Cathedral, Parisi (138) was always in control despite having some uncomfortable moments when Wenton (139½) got in several good shots in the second, fourth and sixth rounds. Switching from orthodox to southpaw with apparent ease, Parisi found gaps in the Englishman’s defence and by the seventh was well on top. After being dropped by a right uppercut at the end of that session, although a badly dazed Wenton was saved by the bell he was also carrying a nasty cut over the left eye and his corner wisely pulled him out during the interval.
