1997-10-04 [[Julien Lorcy]] drew 12 [[Arnulfo Castillo]], Villebon Sur Yvette Grand Dome, Paris, France - WBO. Referee: Roberto Ramirez. Scorecards: 115-113, 113-115, 114-114. For the second time round Lorcy and Castillo met to contest the vacant title following [[Regilio Tuur]]’s retirement. Unfortunately, they were still unable to sort out who would become the next WBO champion, having to settle for another draw. It started badly for Castillo (130) when he was badly cut over the left eye following a clash of heads just 40 seconds into the contest, but although Lorcy (129) went on to win the next few rounds, using the jab, he was never able to dominate the tough Mexican southpaw, who kept rolling back. Many of the rounds were difficult to score, but Castillo was always trying to work the body despite missing frequently, while Lorcy, who finished with damage to both eyes, failed to put the result beyond doubt when he had the chance.

1997-10-04 Julien Lorcy drew 12 Arnulfo Castillo, Villebon Sur Yvette Grand Dome, Paris, France - WBO. Referee: Roberto Ramirez. Scorecards: 115-113, 113-115, 114-114. For the second time round Lorcy and Castillo met to contest the vacant title following Regilio Tuur’s retirement. Unfortunately, they were still unable to sort out who would become the next WBO champion, having to settle for another draw. It started badly for Castillo (130) when he was badly cut over the left eye following a clash of heads just 40 seconds into the contest, but although Lorcy (129) went on to win the next few rounds, using the jab, he was never able to dominate the tough Mexican southpaw who kept rolling back. Even though many of the rounds were difficult to score Castillo was always trying to work the body despite missing frequently, while Lorcy, who finished with damage to both eyes, failed to put the result beyond doubt when he had the chance.

Further to this, Barry Jones and Wilson Palacio were selected to contest the title, with the new champion being asked to meet Lorcy within 90 days and the winner of that contest accommodating Castillo within a further 90 days.
