1997-10-10 Carlos Salazar w pts 12 Everardo Morales, Regata Club, Resistencia, Argentina - WBO. Referee: Luis Pabon. Scorecards: 116-112, 116-113, 116-115. In taking on the hard-punching Morales (111¾), the southpaw champion was up against a man who had nine inside the distance wins from 16 fights and had stopped Antonio Torres, a fighter he’d had trouble with. By far the more classy of the pair, Salazar (112) made a good start to put daylight between himself and Morales, but the latter was never out of the contest and always posed a threat as seen by the scorecards.
