Contesting the vacant title following Prince Naseem Hamed’s failure to defend, Lizarraga (124½), despite being cut over the left eye in the second had too much power for the game Ncita (126) who chose to slug with the slugger rather than outbox him. Ncita’s best rounds were the third and fifth, when he kept his distance and scored well with left leads, but from the sixth onwards he was lured into a battle he could not win. Ncita ultimately paid the price when retired by his corner at the end of the tenth, his right eye badly damaged and having taken a steady battering.
