1998-02-13 Laurent Boudouani drew 12 Guillermo Jones, University Auditorium, Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA - WBA. Referee: Al Martinez. Scorecards: 114-114, 114-114, 114-115. Boxing way below his best, Boudouani (153¼) appeared to be lucky when holding on to his title by a majority draw against the 6’4” Jones (153). While Jones predictably went forward with a mechanical jab, Boudouani spent most of the evening on the back foot and although he landed the harder punches he failed to follow up any advantage. Obviously perplexed at Jones’ huge reach advantage, the Frenchman continually went into a shell when he should have been looking at ways to get inside and it was only due to his 10-9 score on all three judges’ cards in the 12th that the result didn’t go against him.
