1998-04-03 Felix Trinidad w rsc 4 Mahenge Zulu, Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum, Bayamon, Puerto Rico - IBF. Referee: Luis Pabon. In what seemed to be a palpable mismatch, the challenger, who was reported to be 32 although he looked much older, did nothing of note in the opening two rounds other than throw wild punches at Trinidad (147) that missed by a mile. Meanwhile, Trinidad was merely biding his time and in the third he began to open up on Zulu (147), sending in some fairly hefty wallops that served notice of what was to come. After a spot of posing in the fourth, Trinidad finally went for the finish and having hurt Zulu and sent him stumbling with punches to head and body a crashing left hook to the jaw decked him. Although the referee took up the count at about ‘three’ Zulu suggested that he was not going to make it and the fight was called off at 2.20 of the session.
