1998-05-16 Anatoly Alexandrov w pts 12 Julien Lorcy, Bercy Sports Palace, Paris, France - WBO. Referee: Joe Cortez. Scorecards: 119-109, 116-113, 114-114. For the third time Lorcy (129) was given a crack at the vacant WBO title, this time due to Barry Jones’ enforced retirement, but was found wanting and suffered his first defeat in 40 contests. Outboxed and outpunched, the Frenchman was caught by a seemingly endless array of combinations, jabs and hooks throughout by the gangly Alexandrov (129), and although he hit back solidly at times the former European champion’s work-rate was just too much for him. Both men finished with cuts over their left eyes.
