1998-06-05 Juan Carlos Gomez w rsc 6 Guy Waters, Wandsbek Sports Hall, Hamburg, Germany - WBC. Referee: Jay Nady. On top from the opening bell, the southpaw champion was the harder puncher of the two and although Waters (185¼) got his shots off they were virtually brushed aside. In the fifth round, Gomez (189½) was deducted a point for holding and hitting, but it barely mattered as by that stage Waters was taking a shellacking. At 1.30 of the sixth it was all over after the referee had stopped the contest to save the outclassed Waters from taking further punishment when he was not firing back.
