1998-09-04 Marc Johnson w rtd 6 Jose Laureano, Trump Taj Mahal, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Michael Ortega. Despite having to boil off four pounds to make the weight, Johnson (112) was as fast as ever and even though he failed to reach his own high standard he still had too much of everything for Laureano (111). The challenger, who was always trying, was put down just before the end of round six and retired as soon as he got back to his corner. Johnson vacated the title in October 1998 to fight at a heavier weight.
