1998-09-19 Evander Holyfield w pts 12 Vaughn Bean, The Dome, Atlanta, Georgia, USA - IBF/WBA. Referee: Brian Garry. Scorecards: 117-110, 117-110, 116-111. After cruising through the opening four rounds, Holyfield (217) found that he had a real live challenger in Bean (231), who came on strong in the next two sessions, nailing his man several times with big rights before the champion got back into his stride. The seventh round saw Holyfield back in control, landing cleanly with solid shots to head and body, and although he dropped Bean with a left hook in the tenth he was unable to repeat the trick, having to settle for the points win.
