1998-10-03 Juan Carlos Gomez w rsc 2 Alexei Iliin, Prinz Garden Hall, Augsburg, Germany - WBC. Referee: Tony Perez. Making a solid start, Gomez (189) had a good look at Iliin (189¼) before opening up in the second round and driving his challenger into the ropes from where there would be no way out for him. It was all one way and with 25 seconds of the session remaining the referee stopped the fight after Iliin had been dropped by a steady battery of southpaw blows to head and body and was unlikely to get up.
