1998-10-10 Sharmba Mitchell w pts 12 Khalid Rahilou, Bercy Sports Palace, Paris, France - WBA. Referee: Julio Alvarado. Scorecards: 116-107, 116-110, 118-105. Although the champion fought a game rearguard action, he was up against it right from the opening bell as Mitchell (139) showed both fast hands and power from a southpaw to stance to win the title. Knocked down twice in the second and smashed to the floor from a body shot in the third round it didn’t look as though Rahilou (140) would be in the fight for much longer. However, against all the odds he battled back well as Mitchell took a breather before being floored again in the seventh by a big right and then somehow finishing the full course despite taking a battering in the last three sessions.
