1998-10-31 Marco Antonio Barrera w rtd 3 Richie Wenton, Boardwalk Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - WBO. Referee: Ed Johnson. Contested for the title vacated by Kennedy McKinney, both men started fast and Wenton (121), who showed a fair right cross, gave as good as he got in the opening round until it became apparent in the second session that Barrera (122) carried far too much firepower for him. Hammered by some heavy right hands to the head in the third, Wenton was then dropped twice by rib-bending lefts and rights to the body before being retired by his seconds at the end of round.
