1998-10-31 Vuyani Bungu w pts 12 Danny Romero, Boardwalk Convention Centre, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA - IBF. Referee: Rudy Battle. Scorecards: 115-114, 117-112, 114-114. A difficult fight to score saw the challenger start by pressuring the wily Bungu (122) for the opening two rounds, but after being countered effectively he began to box on the outside himself. Although Romero (122) gave of his best he was not able to break down Bungu’s defence and, constantly caught short by straight punches that fairly zipped through his guard, he was out thought and outmanoeuvred.
